Hi everyone, it’s Lisa from Happy Mat Yoga. I want to share something very special to me, something I sometimes weave into my yoga classes and wellness practice: the beautiful tradition of a cacao ceremony.
What exactly is a Cacao Ceremony?
A cacao ceremony is a gentle, heart-opening, mindful gathering where we drink ceremonial-grade cacao, a warm, rich, minimally processed chocolate drink. We sip with intention, creating a space for connection:
connection to our own hearts, and
connection to each other.
It’s not just about the cup; it’s about cultivating gratitude and inner reflection.
Why is Cacao so special?

Cacao is often called the “Food of the Gods” and for good reason. It contains natural compounds that can lift your mood, open the heart space, and help you feel more present and centred. The experience is both emotional and spiritual, inviting softness, clarity, and warmth.
What happens during a Ceremony?
In my ceremonies, we pair the cacao with practices that deepen the experience:
Meditation to settle the mind and land in the body
Gentle movement or dance to release tension and invite flow
Sharing intentions to honour what matters most right now
Together, these elements can help alleviate stress, encourage emotional clarity, and cultivate a felt sense of inner peace and joy.
How It Feels
If you’ve never tried a cacao ceremony, imagine a warm, heart-opening ritual, a mindful pause to slow down, savour the moment, and connect more deeply with yourself and those around you.
An Invitation

Whether you join me for a full ceremony or you’re simply curious about bringing a little cacao magic into your own routine, it’s a truly beautiful practice. Thank you for reading. I can’t wait to share a cup of cacao with you soon.
